Senior Web Developer - PHP / MySQL

Our Senior Web Developer is an integral role at the heart of the team. If successful, you will report to our Lead Developer to deliver cutting edge technological solutions. You will be responsible for a broad range of web development tasks for the diverse mix of clients we work with. You will also have direct involvement in developing innovative new solutions for the hospitality industry.

You will work in a team with 16 dynamic and creative people. We work in beautiful rural offices just outside of Newton Abbot in South Devon. We have a fun but professional approach to all we do, and provide a great environment for personal development.

Key technical skills
The successful candidate must have in-depth knowledge of PHP and MySQL on Linux servers and will have a good understanding and expertise of the following:

  • HTML5
  • PHP
  • Object Ordinated Programming
  • CSS3
  • JavaScript
  • MVC Frameworks

The candidate would benefit from knowledge or experience in the following:

  • Yii & Laravel Framework
  • CSS Pre-processors such as LESS or SCSS
  • jQuery & VueJS or similar JavaScript frameworks
  • Bootstrap 3+ or similar CSS frameworks
  • Wordpress
  • Payment gateways
  • Experience with API e.g., REST, XML
  • Photoshop Skills
  • Version Control

On a daily basis, the workflow will include a variety of back-end development projects using a PHP framework, and front-end user interface working with HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript. As well as new projects, the development team maintain existing websites and applications, and make amends to the existing client portfolio.

We are looking for someone who can display a passion for learning and achieving the best results. New skills are welcomed, and someone who can add a new perspective in the team would thrive. The role is not entirely client-facing, but the ability to liaise with clients, agree on specifications, and plan timeframes will be a significant advantage.

At the moment you would be working from home, but going forward the role would be based at our offices in Newton Abbot, and some remote working if preferred.
