- If there was one top tip you could give to hospitality businesses in the digital age, what would it be?
Two things. One: your customers sample your hospitality the moment they arrive on your website or social feed, or pick up your brochure. Make them feel at home. Is the guest journey intuitive; are the images beautiful; is the copy compelling?
Remember that your customers are searching for experiences, rather than rooms. Make it clear that you can play host to the experiences they crave. For tourists, these amount to some of their best days that year.
Two: don't forget customers outside of the UK. Our island's history and the diversity of its landscapes in relation to its size give it huge appeal abroad. A little effort reaching out to these markets can do wonders for your bookings year-round.
- What do you enjoy doing when not at work?
Exploring. Walking fast, running slowly, jumping in the sea, searching for dogs. Also books, brunch, and bonfires.

- What do you bring to the Clockwork team?
The jigsaw pieces behind great copywriting are subjective. Although, a pro copywriter needs to be able to draw words from a stone. I’ve been told I make insurance palatable. One of the nicest compliments I’ve had. After all, it’s drier than a pile of desert bones.
Hotels? Tourism? That’s a copywriter’s inspirational dream.
Like other writer types, I live for the buzz of finding the funniest, clearest, most engaging, most whatever way of saying something. To the team I’m committed to bringing words that are never lazy, and my own unique style I hope people enjoy.
- What is your favourite UK travel destination? This sounds like a copout, but I don't have one. I love the North and South Devon coasts, but that's not an answer... the county I live in. Good one. Anywhere and everywhere? I like the mystery of exploring new places.
- If there was one top tip you could give to hospitality businesses in the digital age, what would it be? From a copywriting/ content perspective, it would be to understand where the competition is. Everywhere. Unless a company doesn’t have an Internet connection they’ll be putting out content. The good, the bad and the abysmal. A potential customer’s attention is diverted in almost endless directions. Rather than focusing on similar businesses for guidance, it’s about looking to those with strong voices. Those being innovative with content.
- What do you enjoy doing when not at work? I enjoy brisk walks in the countryside, reading high-brow literature from the continent (or Stephen King), playing my acoustic guitar and watching films – especially horror

- What do you bring to the Clockwork team? The very best pun birthday cards for my colleagues. A smile. Ample print design experience. A determined outlook.
- What is your favourite UK travel destination? Longleat Center Parcs. Am I allowed to say that? Having been to Center Parcs most years since I was two years old, it has a special place in my heart.
- If there was one top tip you could give to hospitality businesses in the digital age, what would it be? In a digital society with a lot of noise don’t forget that it’s just as important to communicate with your customers offline as well as online. A simple postcard or thank you card goes a long way. Customers remember a more personal note.
- What do you enjoy doing when not at work? I enjoy heading to the beach for a spot of sunbathing (or attempting to surf the warm seas). When the English weather strikes, you’ll find me inside practicing my calligraphy skills and experimenting with different colour inks.

- What do you bring to the Clockwork team? Speed, efficiency and attention to detail.
- What is your favourite UK travel destination? Bath Spa
- If there was one top tip you could give to hospitality businesses in the digital age, what would it be? Today's digital world is all about photography! Images are the quickest, most powerful way of transmitting information. Our brains process visuals 60,000 times faster than text, so it’s vital to invest in professional photography.
- What do you enjoy doing when not at work? I enjoy getting lost in the wilderness.

- What do you bring to the Clockwork team? I embrace new web technologies and investigate how we can utilise these technologies to get the most out of every project. I also look out for how we can improve processes, trying to improve efficiency wherever possible.
- What is your favourite UK travel destination? As somebody who enjoys a challenge, my favourite UK travel destination would have to be Snowdonia. Reaching the peak of Snowdon always feels like a great achievement, especially on a challenging route.
- If there was one top tip you could give to hospitality businesses in the digital age, what would it be? Always ask for feedback from your guests after their visit when possible. Asking for feedback shows your guests that you are committed to making your service the best it can be, and highlights that you genuinely care about your guests’ experience.
- What do you enjoy doing when not at work? During the summer months I enjoy spending the day at one of the many beaches in Devon, sometimes just relaxing and other times going out on the Kayak. I also like to go for some long walks with the family, cycling, and traveling.

- What do you bring to the Clockwork team? Energy, a strong work ethic and a deep routed belief that what we do here is important and makes a real difference. Whilst I specialise in finance I have worked in Marketing for over 15 years and love working with like-minded creative people.
- What is your favourite UK travel destination? My family and I moved to Newton Abbot from London just over a year ago as we fell in love with the area and all it has to offer. So we don’t need to travel far to reach our favourite spots! We love Ness Beach in Shaldon and long meandering drives across Dartmoor.
- If there was one top tip you could give to hospitality businesses in the digital age, what would it be? The digital landscape is here to stay and it’s full of exciting opportunities and new ways to reach your customers, so embrace it! If you need help don’t be afraid to seek advice from experts who can help navigate you through it and ensure you’re getting the most out of it, whilst retaining the essence of who you are and what you do.
- What do you enjoy doing when not at work? I have a young son so there isn’t much time to relax so we spend lots of time taking advantage of this beautiful place we now call home. I also enjoy DJ'ing and whilst I don’t do it professionally any more I love nothing more than to steal away a few hours here and there to work on my music at home.
