South Sands Hotel is a welcoming indepedent hotel located in the luscious South Devon town of Salcombe. With stunning views over the estuary, placed on a beachfront canvas, South Sands offers a laid-back atmosphere to relax for an overnight stay while enjoying food from the restaurant menu brimming with seafood specials.

What we did

South Sands Hotel commissioned us to build a new bespoke website, including new site-wide content and an SEO launch.

During initial discussions, the South Sands team highlighted words and phrases that didn’t align with the hotel, including the words ‘boutique’ and ‘luxury’. We compared South Sand’s strengths and selling points against competitors, highlighting words they felt related to South Sands, which opened conversations about the hotel as a brand.

Key Must-Haves

Located in the popular town of Salcombe, the hotel welcomes a range of guests throughout the year, with families making the most of the beach during the Summer and couples enjoying the slower way of Salcombe life in the shoulder months. This meant the sitemap and content had to accommodate and appeal to a range of ages, digital knowledge and reasons for visiting South Sands. We also ensured the SEO captures and ranks for a range of keywords across the website, for the same reasons.

Ease of use was essential when designing the site map, emphasising being user-friendly to older guests who may not be familiar with booking or making reservations, while keeping the website modern. We worked together to create a site map with a clear user journey, allowing all guests to book stays and reserve tables online without the need to contact the hotel, a problem they faced with their old site.
